Emissions Trading

With a network of offices and representatives in 20 countries on three continents, M&C Energy Group is able to build on thirty years experience in helping organisations manage their energy expenditure and use by initiating, developing and trading carbon credits on behalf of its clients.

M&C Energy Group formulates and guides greenhouse gas emission reduction projects through the Kyoto Protocol, acting as principal mediator between the projects and the buyers of carbon credits.

M&C Energy Group works with companies in developing and industrialising countries to generate carbon credits from projects that reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. Most activity in the generation and sale of CER's is in India, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Brazil and Argentina. We have experience with projects in a wide range of sectors, including renewable or clean energy (ie wind turbines, solar energy, combined cycle natural gas plants etc.), agriculture and urban waste management and industrial efficiency.

As a registered Carbon Trader in the European Union, M&C Energy Group works with companies in the developed world to assist them in meeting their greenhouse gas emission compliance targets. Utilising its highly diversified carbon credit portfolio, M&C Energy Group is able to structure carbon credit transactions to fit compliance buyer's needs, and has executed transactions with both private and public sector buyers in Europe.

M&C Energy Group's scope as a specialist in generating carbon credits in compliance with the Kyoto Protocol includes:

Feasibility studies for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) projects

Preparation of Project Concept Notes (PCNs) & Project Design Documents (PDDs). This is done according to the specifications of the CDM Executive Board or JI Supervisory Committee (JISC) and sets out the methodologies for benchmarking existing emissions and how reductions will be quantified over the life of the project.

Supporting clients to identify suitable Designated Operational Entities (DOEs) for CDM project validation.

Facilitation of Host Country approval via the local Designated National Authority and confirmation that the project contributes to sustainable development in that country

Working with clients and DOEs to achieve validation

Achieving project registration with CDM - Executive Board (CDM-EB) or JISC

Supporting the client's adherence to the Monitoring Methodology

Arranging and managing the sale of Emissions Reductions to buyers within Annex I countries

Co-ordination of verification of emissions reductions annually with the DOE
